STRUCTURAL INSULATED PANEL (SIP)

8A1C4165 EDIT.jpg

Structural insulated panels are a highly versatile construction material with a wide range of proven uses and benefits that rival more traditional building methods, the panels are manufactured off site in controlled conditions.

We have worked with multiple different types of SIP panels including:

  • 142mm thick PU insulation core sandwiched between OSB boards

  • 300mm thick EPS panels with steel "C" chanel panel

  • 100mm thick PIR panel wih Roof Tile Effect steel face

We design, supply and install the roofs on our projects.

Panels are typically 1220mm in width and 2440-6000mm in length, however we can produce other sizes upon request.

SIP panels can be designed to suit most domestic and commercial requirments. They are a safe alternative to traditional roofing as a working platform is produceds as you move along, compliments our highly insulated building fabric to complete your external envelope.

PBS SIP Roof Panel

  • 300mm thick EPS panels reinforced with  steel "C" channel along each side of the panel.

  • When the panels are installed, the back to back panels form a "I" section which provides the strengths accross its span.

  • Counter battens are fixed directly into the channel and then any standard roof sinish can be applied.

  • Overhangs can be acheived with the use of the steel frame or additional reinforcment.

Traditional Roof

We have also installed many other methods of roofing such as:

  • Hollowcore Flat Roof

  • Timber or Posi-Joist Flat Roof

  • Trussed Roof

  • Cut roofs etc.

While we have worked with the above systems, we would always recomend using the SIP systems as they compliment our build mothods fabric first approach and minimising themral bridging.

Hollowcore Roofs

  • Precast / prestressed hollowcore, offers many advantages over alternative methods such as in-situ concrete, steel and timber. A lightweight solution which allows long spans between supports.

  • For flat roofs with large spans, we would always recomend hollowcore to do the job.

  • Using hollowcore can ommit a number of structural steels from your project.

  • See the Floor page for more information above Hollowcore
