Hollowcore Floors

04 Marlow Hollowcore.jpg

Hollowcore (also known as slabs or planks) are pre-stressed concrete slabs with internal voids, creating an efficient and lightweight plank that is far lighter than other floor slabs of equal thickness or strength.

The reduction in weight offers benefits such as lower transportation costs and saves on the cost of materials required (concrete).

Available depths are 100mm (solid slab), 150mm (acoustic slab), 150mm, 200mm and 250mm deep units and are produced at 1200mm wide (although slabs can be designed to suit most shapes and widths in plan).

Benefits of Hollowcore Floors:

  • Rapid installation – our teams can fit up to 300 square meters of hollowcore in a day (subject to site conditions).

  • Long span/depth ratio – large areas can be covered in a single span/plank meaning less steel/masonry and structural efficiency. See our Span/Load table

  • Excellent sound resistance & noise transfer performance.

  • Hollowcore has a minimum fire resistance of >1 hour that increases with depth.

  • No propping is required as the planks create an instant working platform to allow work to continue

  • Robust soffit ready to accommodate services/wiring etc.

  • Outstanding thermal mass when left exposed.

Steel

Structural Steel

We design, supply and install all the integral strucutral steel required for the upper floors and walls including columns, beams, channels and angles.

Steels are typically installed with the floor structure to minimise the requirment for additional crane visits.

All steel is fabricated in controlled certified conditionals to ensure production is to the highest standard.

Stairs

Stairs

All of our stair systems are are manufactured off site and typically installed with the structural steel and concrete floors.

Precast Concrete

Precast Concrete (PC) Stairs are manufactured in controlled conditions using either timber or steel moulds. They have a number of advantages including:

  • Inherent fire resistance

  • Excellent noise reduction and sound insulation

  • Provides immediate safe access to upper floors and negates the need for temporary systems

  • A solid base – they can be left as fair faced or a finish can be applied in the form of timber, stone, tiles, carpet etc

  • Progressive collapse requirements can be accomodated

  • Perfect when paired with a Hollowcore Concrete Floor

Steel

Steel Stairs are fabricated in controlled conditions and share a number of the above advantaceds.

We would recomed steels stairs when curved or helical staircase are required as this can be easily acheived as part of the fabrication process

Steel stairs can be finished in a similar way as the PC units. Typically the soffits are finishes with drywall and plaster.

Straight or Curved glass can be used as a balustrade, the stringer creates the fixing channel to provide a clean finish to your stairs.

Architectural Concrete

Architectural concrete is concrete that will be permanently exposed to view and therefore requires special care in selection of the concrete materials, forming, placing, and finishing to obtain the desired architectural appearance.

Architectural and structural considerations as well as material and construction method need to be carefully considered

We have a wide degree of experience with in forming and finishing for paths , driveways, concrete skateboard parks and hard landscaping elements.

We have a wide array of specialist tools including edgers, grooves, stamps and brushes to provide your desired finish.
